Our Story
Experienced. Trusted.
Here for Christian Workers.
NCTU is not a distant institution. It was built by people who have been where you are — Christians who faced pressure, investigation, and dismissal in their workplaces, and who chose to stand firm. They know what it costs. And they built this union so that no one has to face it alone.
OUR FOUNDATION
How the National Christian Trade Union Came To Be.
Born Out of Experience. Built for This Moment.
The National Christian Trade Union is an initiative of Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre — organisations with over 16 years of frontline experience defending the rights of Christians in the United Kingdom.
For more than a decade, the Christian Legal Centre has stood alongside teachers, nurses, pastors, doctors, lecturers, and social workers who found themselves facing disciplinary action, investigation, or dismissal simply for living out their faith. Case by case, the picture became clear: this was not a series of isolated incidents. It was a pattern. And what was needed was not just case-by-case support — but a permanent home. A trade union where Christian workers could find representation, community, and the courage to stand.
And so NCTU was born.
What makes NCTU different is not simply what we do — it is who built us. Our Executive Committee is made up of Christians who were themselves supported through workplace challenges by Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre. These are not distant observers of the problem. They are people who lived it — who faced disciplinary hearings, employment tribunals, professional bans, and public campaigns against them — and who came through the other side.
They said yes to NCTU because they know, from personal experience, the difference the right support makes. And they want every Christian facing a workplace challenge to have access to it.

What We Stand For.
Four convictions that shape everything we do.

We support members to live and work according to their convictions — without compromise or fear. We will always be honest with you about what we can offer and how we can help.

We advocate for fair treatment and lawful workplace practice, ensuring no Christian faces discrimination for their beliefs. We know the processes. We know your rights. And we will use both on your behalf.

We stand firm when faith and conscience are challenged — and we equip and accompany our members to do the same. You will not have to walk into a difficult room alone.

No one should face these battles in isolation. We ensure Christians in the workplace are supported, connected, and represented — not just legally, but pastorally and personally.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The People Behind NCTU
A Committee That Knows the Cost of Standing Firm
Every member of our Executive Committee has a personal story — a moment when their faith put them in the crosshairs of their employer, their institution, or their profession. They did not choose the easy path. They stood. And through that experience, they came to understand both what is at stake for Christians in the workplace today, and what a difference the right support makes.
They are here because they want that support to exist for you.

OUR HERITAGE
Our Connection To Christian Concern & the Christian Legal Centre
Standing on 16 Years of Frontline Experience
NCTU does not start from scratch. We carry forward the expertise, the case knowledge, and the deep understanding of HR and employment processes built by Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre over more than sixteen years of frontline work.
We are not simply a legal service. We are a trade union — which means we are a community of people committed to representing, accompanying, and supporting you through every stage of a workplace challenge. Our union representatives attend meetings, navigate disciplinary processes, and stand beside you when it matters most.
We understand the HR processes. We know the procedural frameworks. We have seen these situations before — and we know how to act early, act wisely, and act with both strength and care.
“For over 16 years through the Christian Legal Centre, and now through NCTU, we have stood with Christian workers across the UK.”
